Welcome to My Blog!

Well, happy belated Halloween! Man, it sure has been rough, huh? The next president of the United States has been declared, and ya know... I won't talk about it too much, but the person I voted for wasn't elected.

Now, that is very sucky and I do have a lot of fear and anxiety around what the future holds. There's a lot of fearmongering from both sides, but especially my side of the political spectrum. So it's all just... scary.

So I spent a large part of today just making a cute little MySpace-esque profile page for myself, which was pretty fun. It's the "Profile" option in the NavBar.

I dunno. There's a lot of gross feelings right now, and I just hope that everything will turn out okay.

Okay! Thank you to anyone reading this, and visiting my tiny corner of the internet! I have successfully gone through and updated most of this website to (hopefully) make it look better/more impressive!

The Minecraft Server under Misc, I'm especially proud of. And, of course, this page is looking really nice, if I do say so myself!

I need to focus less on this website now, and more on the next big project in front of me - NaNoWriMo 2024! When November hits, it will be time for another novel. I made the beginnings of a "Character Wiki" under Misc which I may or may not use, it might be nice to try and keep my characters' lore straight. But, ya know, we'll see.

I'll also try to update here more consistently. Even if it's just in the capacity of treating this like a normal journal. I know that almost certainly no one is reading these, but hey, maybe some day someone will peruse.

Well hello there! Long time no write!

Man, so much has changed since I last updated this website. I married that "girlfriend of 14 months" I mentioned in the last entry. She's amazing, and I love her so much.

I'm trying to re-learn a lot! I have so many things I want to do, and projects that I keep starting and stopping. I wrote a novel last year. Probably gonna try and do that this November again.

I've been learning a whole ton, which I'm pretty proud of. Things on this page are looking good! Sadly though, I'm starting to run out of ideas on where to go from here, hmm.... Maybe it would behoove me to go back and take a look at the list of GitHub APIs and see what other kind of application I can make? That may be a good idea.

In personal news, I've recently moved in with my girlfriend of 14 months, been here about two weeks now. It's going really well! She hasn't begun to want to kill me yet. :P

Life is pretty good right now, I would say, and I'm very pleased with where I am. Throughout my whole life, I think it's very rare that I've ever said that. If ever. Things are good. :)

Alrighty, new blog article time! As I mentioned in the last entry, I wanted to make this blog a bit easier to navigate, so that instead of scrolling through a super long web page, it would be more searchable. That has been done! Now there is a dropdown menu at the top of the page and you can select the date you want to read. Maybe in the future I could include, like... a little synopsis of what was said after you click on an entry.

But for now, this is looking better! I've been taking a full stack web development course on Udemy by the awesome Kalob Taulien. Aside from the spookiness of his name being the same as mine (though spelled differently), it's so far the best full course I've seen. I've even been watching his courses on stuff I'm already aware of.

Other than that, not much new is happening in life. Work has been ramping up in busy-ness, and it's been cold and dreary here.

I do have a goal in mind - maybe you'll see it if you keep your eye on the Misc area on this site.

The Pokédex app has come along really well! And what timing, with Pokémon Legends: Arceus having just come out.

The only thing I want to figure out now is how to do evolutions. I mean when I'm looking up a Pokémon, 10 times out of 10 that's what I'm trying to figure out.

It's proving to be a tough nut to crack; the way that the PokéAPI organizes evolution chains isn't how I would expect. But I will figure it out!

Also I wanna make this blog more easily searchable, instead of having like one giant page. But I'll get there, I have ideas on how it could be done with what I've learned from the Pokédex project.

So my boss, Daniel, asked me to continue my learning of JS, and to that end asked me to pick an API from a long list of public APIs.

I picked the PokéAPI and was then tasked to create a Pokédex application! So here on this website I whipped up a Misc area in the header which can take you to the Pokédex app that I created. I gotta say, although the information you can get from it is relatively limited I'm pretty proud of it, it's a fun little application.

I also used a Minecraft Server Status API to create a very simple informative page that will tell myself and the other moderators of our Minecraft server whether or not it's running and who is playing.

I'm learning a lot, and I'm super pleased! I dunno what else I might make next but hey, it's a fun journey.

Alright, so this website is about a direct mirror of the previous website that I made through Wix. Now I think I'd like to begin tweaking it so that the home page is more a hub for my projects and less, ya know... just Obscure Doubt.

...aaaand now that's done! Alright, so I've added another couple of things I've worked on to the Home page. Yesterday I attempted to get back into the swing of game making, because it's been too long and I'm feeling the itch. Didn't get too far though, I need to really sit down and think up a new plot and location.

All I know at this point is that I want it to be another fantasy-themed game. But ya know, what's the story? What's the conflict?

Mmm, I dunno. I'll have to see if I can come up with anything.

I have created this website! A lot of this I carried over from my old website, which I made a couple of years ago via Wix. Now that I know how to do this coding myself, I'm basically taking it upon myself to create it my way.

Though of course, this blog section is new. I'll have to comb back through this website and update it, make it less Obscure Doubt-focused, if I want to use this as... I dunno, a portfolio or something.

And through this, maybe I'll learn some more! Maybe this page can be searchable via date, or something? Who's to say, who's to say.

I recently played a game called "Emily is Away <3" on Steam, which impressed me. The whole concept was that it's meant to be 2008-era internet, primarily on an old Facebook, but also featured an old YouTube.

I found that to be really fascinating, maybe some day I'll work on making a mock, nostalgia-filled website. Like a mock MySpace page or something.
